CMS Cambridge team earns global recognition for water quality research

9 December : A six-member student team from the Cambridge Section of City
Montessori School, Gomti Nagar Extension Campus, has brought glory to Lucknow
on the global stage by winning the prestigious ‘Best in South Asia-2024’ award
at the Cambridge International Science Competition. The CMS Cambridge Section
team comprises Adriti Sharma, Kartik Arora, Tejaswi Tripathi, Mohammad Mahi,
Vyapti, and Atulya Tripathi. They received this honour for their science
project titled "Unveiling Water Quality: A Rigorous Examination of Gomti
River Potability Parameters in the Lucknow Region". The objective of this
project was to address the pressing global challenge of water contamination and
potability issues with Gomti River water. Through their in-depth scientific
analysis, research, and findings, the CMS students have presented a creative
solution to the global issue of drinking water quality. This information was
given by Mr. Rishi Khanna, Head, Communications, CMS. He
stated that the judging panel from Cambridge International Assessment
Education, London, highly commended the project, saying, "The CMS student
team has identified a local issue that holds global relevance. Their project
could serve as a valuable resource not only for various stakeholders involved
in water quality management but also for government bodies."CMS
Manager, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, congratulated the students for their
outstanding global achievement and wished them a bright future. She also
expressed gratitude to the school’s principal and teachers for their guidance
and support.
Mr. Khanna further shared that under the
guidance of their teacher Dr. Sabina Riaz, the CMS student team conducted 50
days of scientific research for this project. They developed a hypothesis after
studying the background of Gomti River water and validated it through various
laboratory experiments, presenting their findings in a comprehensive report.
The CMS students’ project has also been nominated for the prestigious ‘Best in
World 2024’ award by Cambridge International Assessment Education, London.
Additionally, the award-winning entry has been showcased on Cambridge
International Education’s website and social media platforms. Mr. Khanna added
that CMS continually motivates its students towards social responsibility and
encourages them to excel in their areas of interest. This approach enables CMS
students to enhance the school’s reputation at both national and international levels
through their multifaceted talents
